There's no denying the power of a good night's sleep, it can impact everything from your mood to your overall health, and central to that is a high-quality mattress. As a seasoned mattress tester and reviewer, I've evaluated hundreds of mattresses over the years and the Silentnight Memory 800 Pocket Mattress is one I'll be talking about for quite some time. Lets dive right into why I found this product so intriguing.
Prior to testing this mattress in-store, the specs provided deceptive insight into its potential. Featuring 800 individual Mirapocket® springs, the mattress promised a responsive and personalised sleeping experience. These zoned support systems are usually associated with high-end mattresses and contribute significantly to the overall comfort and support. The medium comfort level seemed an excellent all-rounder.
The presence of Silentnight's Premium Memory Foam in the construction was a major point of interest for me, as it's known for its plush contouring properties and distinctive pressure relief. Combined with the soft-touch, stretch-knit cover, the mattress was graphicaly presented as a sanctuary of softness and comfort. However, all isn't always as it seems in the world of mattresses, so I headed into my in-store test with a healthy level of scepticism.
Once I was in the store and laying on the Silentnight Memory 800 Pocket Mattress, I immediately noticed the firm yet gentle cradle it offered my body. The memory foam lived up to its hype, moulding softly to my body contours and offering a pressure-free sleeping surface. But as much as I appreciated the foam’s soft hug, I was simultaneously aware that those looking for a firmer feel may find this mattress somewhat lacking in robust support.
The mattress is marketed as hypoallergenic, which is an excellent feature for allergy sufferers, though I couldn't test this in-store. Reviews seem to testify its effectiveness though. The soft-knit fabric cover was indeed soft and breathable but, I was slightly concerned about the longevity of this cover due to its delicate nature. It may benefit from an additional mattress protector for durability.
The simple no-flip design that only requires rotation is very user-friendly and maintenance-light. I like the fact that this 24cm tall mattress is made exclusively for Bensons for Beds is assuring in terms of quality control but I haven't personally experienced the delivery process, so I can't attest to that experience.
While in-store situations are sterile environments, I found a trove of information in customer reviews to supplement my own observations. The reviews unanimously reinforced the medium comfort level, verifying its suitability for back and side sleepers, though a handful did mention desiring slightly firmer support.
In conclusion, the Silentnight Memory 800 Pocket Mattress is a well-designed and considerate product that would suit a wide range of sleepers. I feel it lives up to its reputation for pressure relief and body contouring. It’s an appealing choice for those who sleep on their side or back and are of average weight. However, those seeking a firmer sleep surface may want to consider other options. Overall, I feel confident recommending this mattress but do advise potential buyers to take heed of its softer comfort level.

Fairly comfortable for a medium tension mattress and gives a decent sleep. The process of not having to flip it, only rotate is a relief.
